BlackRock Funds in Online Business Directory
BlackRock is a premier provider of global investment management services. As of June 30, 2007, BlackRock manages $1.230 trillion across fixed income, equity, liquidity, asset allocation/balanced, real estate, and alternative strategies for institutional and retail clients worldwide. Through BlackRock Solutions, the firm provides risk management and advisory services that combine capital markets expertise with proprietarily-developed systems and technology. Substantial resources are allocated to ongoing development of technology and analytical capabilities for internal users and external clients. BlackRock Solutions provides risk management and enterprise investment services to portfolios in excess of $5.0 trillion. BlackRock was founded in 1988 on the belief that experienced professionals using a disciplined investment process and sophisticated analytical tools can consistently add value to client portfolios. Within this framework, the firm has assembled teams of experienced investment professionals. The “One BlackRock” approach enables these teams to leverage resources of the organization worldwide while tailoring products to meet client needs. Investment capabilities are complemented by a senior-level commitment to client service. Since its founding, BlackRock has sought to better serve clients by anticipating and responding to changes and advancements in the investment industry, and continually seeks to broaden and deepen its investment and risk management capabilities. A significant step in this ongoing effort was the 2006 merger with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM). Todays BlackRock combines the history and experience of MLIM with the innovation and technology of the legacy BlackRock organization. MLIM began managing assets in the UK in 1946 as part of S.G. Warburg & Co. (later known as Mercury Asset Management), and began managing assets in the US in 1976 under the Merrill Lynch name. More recently, on 1 October 2007 BlackRock acquired the fund of funds business of Quellos Group, LLC to form one integrated fund of funds platform. The combined business provides hedge, private equity and real asset fund of funds to institutional and individual investors worldwide. BlackRock is independent in ownership and governance, with no single majority stockholder and a majority of independent directors. In terms of equity, Merrill Lynch’s stake is approximately 49%, while PNC Financial Services Group retains an interest of about 34%; the remaining 17% is held by BlackRock employees and the public. BlackRock serves clients in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. Headquartered in New York, the firm maintains offices in 18 countries around the world.
