We implement an active, bottom-up investment process that is efficient, systematic and scalable. Our primary separate account strategies are large cap growth, mid cap growth and small cap growth equities for institutions, and equity and balanced strategies for private clients. The investment process begins with a quantitative model that provides a valuation ranking for individual stocks. The model captures a range of financial metrics that, combined into a diverse portfolio of factors, contributes to more consistent excess return. By narrowing a broad universe of companies, the valuation model provides a focused starting point for traditional fundamental analysis, wherein we consider such attributes as company products and markets, business drivers and risk factors, and industry trends. Portfolio construction applies an optimization process to the results of the valuation ranking, favoring the most attractively valued securities constrained by benchmark structural characteristics. We diversify the portfolios across economic sectors and limit stock-specific risk. Risk control is further enhanced by repeating the structured analytical process regularly. The portfolios are managed by President and Chief Investment Officer Art French and Senior Portfolio Manager Mark Keeling, with support by Craig MacLeod and Susan Levin.
