Founded in 1909 in Albany, New York, Dongan was moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1911, establishing it as a Michigan Corporation. Early products included low voltage doorbell transformers for which Dongan was awarded some of the first Underwriters Laboratories approvals on February 10, 1911. Other initial products included neon sign transformers, console radio magnetics, and toy train transformers. General purpose power distribution transformers, industrial control and other more specialized designs were gradually added to the product line during the 40s, and 50s. More recent products include reactors, constant voltage transformers, K - Rated transformers, transformer lighting disconnects and related products. Today, Dongan combines our 90 year history of specialty transformer manufacturing expertise with a complete catalog of stock transformers for the distributor, OEM and MRO markets. With facilities in Michigan and Ohio, Dongan is a major supplier of dry-type, industrial control, residential and industrial ignition, motor drive isolation, and CE Marked transformers to customers throughout North America.
