Bruno Bassi started his activity in battery operated systems in the year 1968, when he was a designer of electric forklifts for an italian manufacturer of material handling machineries. Six years later, he started his own company Bassi Bruno elettromeccanica. The first product manufactured by the company was a line of small battery chargers for orderpickers. In the next years, the range of battery chargers has been extended to forklifts and stationnary applications, moreover Bruno started to design control boards for factory automation equipment. Starting from the first year of activity, the company estabilished long term relations with many forklift manufacturers. These technical cooperations, still continued today, have been always a fundamental support for the development of advanced and reliable products. In the year 1985 the company started to export battery chargers to Austria, Germany and Switzerland. In the next years, the market has been extended worldwide, with new cooperations with many distributors of battery related products. The production of forklift battery chargers has always been the principal business of the company (about 80% of the total turnover), however our engineers, under the direction of Bruno and his son Andrea, designed and developed more than 1000 customized devices, for example: power supplies for aircrafts, trains and telecom, uninterruptible power supplies for surgery rooms and life support machineries, battery chargers for racing electric cars, current generators and electronic loads. Today the company operates in an area of 23000 square metres. During the year 2002 the warehouse has been expanded with a new building of 2500 square metres and two new laboratories have been built. One of these new labs is completely dedicated to the development of customized products. The company introduced a ISO9000 quality system starting from May 2001. In July 2001 the company started to the development of a new line of products for the North American market. This new line of products obtained the UL (U.S.A.) listing and CSA (Canada) certificate in May 2002. Today we are the only European manufacturer of industrial battery chargers and power supplies having these important safety marks.
